London electronic tinkering rockers Public Service Broadcasting will be headlining on Saturday 9th September and releasing their new album Every Valley, on 7th July. They are a pseudonymous duo consisting of J. Willgoose, Esq. on guitar, banjo, other stringed instruments, samplings and electronic instruments; and Wrigglesworth on drums, piano and electronic instruments.

How would you describe your live shows?

At their best they’re a hypnotic blend of audio and visuals coming together to create a near-transcendent experience. At their worst it’s four idiots wearing silly clothes making lots of mistakes. Most gigs go one way or the other….

You’re releasing your new album Every Valley later this year, what can people expect from it?
11 fun-filled hit songs about mining! No, to be more serious, it’s a deep, dense and hopefully rich listening experience that deals with a lot of weighty subjects, but in a sensitive and thoughtful way, while not forgetting the importance of melody and rhythm.

What made you choose the concept of the mining history of Wales?
I thought it was a fascinating story and an interesting route to take coming off the back of The Race For Space.

What do you love most about festival performances compared to regular live shows?
The crowd tend to be more warmed up more quickly - festivals are just good for lifting the spirits, so you tend to get a bit more energy from them and it’s nice to know you’re part of making people’s weekends memorable (or trying to).

What else are you looking forward to about Always The Sun Festival?
We’ve not been back to Guildford since about 2014, I don’t think, and The Boileroom shows we did there were really special for us, so we’re hoping to catch up with some old acquaintances.
