In 2015 Nishi Joshi- Bhatt founded ‘Dance Shakti’, a Guildford based Bollywood dance troupe and school, for which she is the lead dancer, teacher and choreographer.
Dance Shakti’s main ethos is to promote Indian dance and culture whilst getting the community involved. They often perform at local charity events to help raise awareness for vital causes.
The group performs styles including Bharatanatyam (Indian Classical Dance), Kathak, Bollywood, & Indian folk dance.
Dance Shakti also fuses western and eastern styles to create fun and exciting choreography for everyone to enjoy!
Over the last few years Nishi and her dancers have performed around the UK at many prestigious events and arts festivals, in front of dignitaries such as the Mayors of Guildford, Godalming and Woking and the High Commissioner of India. Nishi has also represented Dance Shakti abroad at International Film Awards ceremonies.
Dance Shakti is now keen to get even more involved with communities in Surrey and has started professional Bollywood dance workshops for both children and adults.
