“Drones already sound like a band to believe in” - Rock Sound
Drones are one of the most exciting new punk bands emerging from the UK, breaking the mould with socio-politically charged messages and a turning heads up and down the country with their much talked-about live reputation. The 2016 reincarnation of Drones sees the introduction of fresh-faced vocalist Lois McDougall and guitarist Tim Kramer, who have brought an exciting development to the band’s sound, prominent on their latest single and their first as a five-piece, ‘Parasite’.
Since inking a deal with independent label Lockjaw Records, home to some of the UK’s finest underground hardcore acts as well as international arena-touring artists, the band have released their debut album, ‘Mutiny’, EP ‘Free Marked Kid’ (one of the fastest-selling releases on the label) and 2015 single ‘From Birth To Grave’.
Drones are frequently played on BBC Radio 1, and have recorded a live session at the prestigious Maida Vale studios for the Mike Davies Punk Show, plus spot plays on the Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter. The band are also frequently played on Kerrang! Radio, as well as appearing in publications such as Kerrang! Magazine, Rock Sound, Big Cheese, Front, Punktastic and Hit The Floor.
The band have a large touring CV under their belts, from underground squats to festivals. Notable touring achievements have included packing out the Dogtooth Stage at the prestigious Download Festival; supporting the likes of Neck Deep, Marmozets, Gallows, Funeral For A Friend, Heck and H2O; packing out a headline show at London’s Old Blue Last (sponsored by Punktastic). The band’s most recent shows include Camden Rocks Festival and performing as main support at Camden Roundhouse’s Punk Weekender.
The band are currently writing and recording their first full release in the current incarnation, and are plotting a busy 2017.
Presented by LockJaw Records, Drones play the Andertons Stage on Sunday 10th September.
