All hailing from the home-counties, previously home to influences including Reuben and YouMeAtSix, Hanshotfirst have evolved into the area’s most promising new band, armed with a stock of sweaty anthems and a growing reputation for intense live shows.
Zander Dale, Mike Thomas and Ed Robinson have played together for several years, originally bonding over a mutual love for Finch’s What It Is To Burn. The band has since grown and grown, adding drummer Will Asson and bassist Marek Fengler to their ranks.
Described as “really special” by Alex Baker (Kerrang! Fresh Blood) Hanshotfirst have already become one of Surreys most explosive and entertaining bands, armed with an array of sweaty anthems and a growing reputation for intense live shows. To Those We Have Loved And Lost showcases another step forward for Hanshotfirst. Ranging from the melancholic singalong pop punk of ‘Vagabonds’, to the scream your head off riffage of ‘Jessica’ via the haunting, grand piano led, single ‘We Fall Down’, Hanshotfirst’s debut album takes the listener on a journey evoking a multitude of emotions. The lyrical themes of the album follow closely the trials and tribulations that the band has encountered over the past year. These include brutally honest confessions about the breakdown of a long term relationship, friends moving away to the big city, being alone and the frustrations of trying to achieve your dreams but being held back at every opportunity.
